MEN’S TESTOSTERONE THERAPY (TRT)

Starting in your early 30’s, your testosterone levels begin to decline 1 to 2 percent each year, leading to a hormone imbalance, specifically testosterone deficiency, known as Low T or Andropause. Low testosterone can cause a host of unwanted symptoms such as low libido, energy and strength, lack of motivation, weight gain, erectile dysfunction, hair thinning and depression. Supplementing the body with bio-identical hormone testosterone can restore your levels, reduce or even eliminate these symptoms, helping restore your well-being and making you feel youthful again. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms let us help you reignite the alpha male and create a custom testosterone replacement program for you.

SYMPTOMS OF LOW TESTOSTERONE

  • Fatigue
  • Decreased sense of well being
  • Low libido
  • Increased body fat
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Decreased muscle mass
  • Depression
  • Decreased bone mineral density

WHAT IS TESTOSTERONE?

Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone responsible for our primary sex characteristics. It is associated with a man’s sex drive, but also affects every tissue in the body and plays into myriad physical and mental factors, including mental health, storage of fat, red blood cell production, and muscle mass.

PROCESS FOR TESTOSTERONE TREATMENT

1. Free Phone Consultation

First, we begin with a phone consultation. Getting to know you, your health concerns and goals. You will have questions and so will we. From there, we help you make an informed decision if you are a candidate for testosterone therapy and a plan of action to set you up for success.

2. Comprehensive blood work and physical evaluation

Following the initial phone consultation, you will need to visit our office for blood work and a physical exam. When the lab results come back, they will be reviewed with you, so you are fully aware of your starting point.

3. Program Customized for you
We have reviewed your lab results and your physical. Now, it is our time to create a customized treatment program, designed just for you. Your customized treatment program may consist of medications, supplements, injections, or a combination designed to fit your unique lifestyle and goals.
4. Medications delivered to you

Medications are shipped directly to your home from our pharmacy in a discreet package for you to begin treatment.

5. Follow up and management
Our goal is to make everything as convenient and easy as possible. After your first initial visit you will need to return in 2-3 months for repeat labs to ensure treatment is working. If all is well, you may only need to visit our office once every six months unless there are concerns or dose adjustments are made. Most follow ups can be done virtually or by phone.

HOW IS TESTOSTERONE THERAPY ADMINISTERED?

At HAV, we teach our clients how to properly administer their testosterone injections via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. Injections are given twice a week to maintain stable levels in the blood and prevent spikes and lows. Typical injection sites are the gluteal, shoulder, or leg. For those patients who cannot do injections we do offer creams or gels. Those patients who exercise, sweat or shower a lot, gels and creams are not advised.

ADJUNCT MEDICATIONS

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG)

At HAV all testosterone replacement patients will receive HCG. Taking any form of testosterone down regulates your natural production. The result of taking testosterone alone is testicular shrinkage, sperm reduction, and failure to produce your own testosterone naturally. HCG prevents any testicular degradation, optimizes a man’s natural production and therefore reduces the amount of the exogenous prescription required to keep him at an optimal level.

Estrogen Blockers

Aromatization is a process performed by the body that turns testosterone into estrogen. Taking testosterone alone will cause some males estrogen levels to increase causing unwanted side effects. If this occurs estrogen blockers such as Anastrozole are given to prevent this from occurring. We do not give Anastrozole to all patients unless needed because estrogen has cardio-protective properties in men. We only use the estrogen blockers when a patient has a surplus and our trained medical providers then try to dial it back carefully, not to bottom out levels.

CLOMIPHENE (Clomid)

Clomid can be added to TRT whenever a patient is currently in the process of active family planning. Normally, testosterone replacement therapies will reduce a man’s sperm count dramatically. With Clomid, however, a patient’s sperm count (in conjunction with the HCG) will optimize and increase his sperm count and hopefully help him achieve the desired pregnancy.
